Denver, CO – The Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter (ABCRMC) hosted over 270 members of the construction industry from all over Colorado at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center on Thursday, April 18th. This networking breakfast and program featured ABC’s Chief Economist and President and CEO of the Sage Policy Group, Anirban Basu, and attendees included members of ABCRMC along with industry guests. The program also recognized member accomplishments such as Lockton Companies and Wipfli’s 40th member anniversaries, 11 members who won awards at ABC’s National Convention last month and the CSU Student Chapter which won first place overall at ABC’s National Construction Management competition. Anirban Basu presented on his predictions for Colorado’s economy in 2019 and its impact on the construction industry. “The Rocky Mountain area will continue to be one of the fastest growth areas in the United State with Denver, one of the largest metro areas, seeing 1.8% growth,” said Basu. He continued to discuss job markets in different regions throughout the state, real estate costs, foreign investments, tax cuts, and more. Although his predictions were overall very positive for the state of Colorado, he warned that the economy is fragile and that an eventual economic collapse is always a possibility.
