Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter (ABCRMC) hosted a Day at the Capitol event with more than 30 construction industry professionals to educate ABC members on how legislation and politics affect the construction industry. ABCRMC President and CEO, Joanna Johnson, Government Affairs Staff Liaison, Sabrina Kosmas, and lobbyist Jay Hicks with Hicks and Associates presented on how they work with legislatures and their staff to advocate on behalf of our members and how members can get involved in the legislative process firsthand.
The event also featured guest speakers which included legislative drafter and Senior Attorney Jery Payne, followed by an open discussion with Senate Republican Chief of Staff, Tim Griesmer and Senate Democrat Deputy Chief of Staff, Nellie Moran. Members were able to expand their political horizons by asking questions and having open discussions with the presenters followed by an exclusive tour of the Capitol Building.
