DESCRIPTION:Join ABC Rocky Mountain for our June Business & Breakfast: Project Labor Agreements (PLAs)!  \nEnjoy breakfast and presentation from ABC Rocky Mountain CEO & President\, Jack Tate\, on Project Labor Agreements (PLAs).  Learn about how PLAs can affect your business and get your questions about PLAs answered.  Breakfast will begin at 7:30 AM\, with the presentation beginning at 8:00 AM\, followed by a Q&A session. \nPLAs\, established early in the 20th century\, are pre-hire collective bargaining agreements between building trade unions and contractors. They govern terms and conditions of employment for all craft workers\, union and non-union\, on a construction project.  \n Though all contractors are technically free to bid on construction contracts subject to government-mandated PLAs\, the terms of a PLA typically force contractors to recognize unions as the representatives of their employees on a job; use the union hiring hall to obtain workers; hire apprentices exclusively through union apprenticeship programs; pay fringe benefits into union-managed benefits and multi-employer pension programs; and obey the unions’ restrictive and inefficient work rules and job classifications.

Certificates of Completion are valid for five years from the date of course completion. \nCertification:  Certification of contractor’s Quality Control Managers is obtained through successful completion of this course.  Certificates are emailed to attendees approximately 1 month after the class. \nProgram Description:  This is a one-day in-person training.  The instructor is Nick Alexander\, Construction Representative\, USACE\, Ft Carson Resident Office.  This course offers prospective quality control managers / representatives the opportunity to satisfy the CQM training requirement specified in most Corps and NAVFAC construction contracts and must be taken and passed by any contractor aspiring to do work for us on projects of roughly $1 million or more\, within 45 calendar days after contract award.
