2012 SAFETY AWARDS 
ABC Rocky Mountain Awards Members for Safety

   Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter held the annual Safety Awards dinner recently at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center. Over 160 ABC members and guests were in attendance for the event. The Safety Awards are to recognize ABC member companies who are leading the industry in the area of safety. They have all shown outstanding commitment and dedication to the health and safety of their employees.
  
Also, prior to the awards portion of the ceremony, two very deserving Colorado high school students received the ABC Bob Piper Construction Education Scholarships of $1,000 each. Receiving scholarships were Josh Weller of Buena Vista High School with an impressive 4.018 grade point average. Josh will be attending the University of Hawaii to pursue a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Also receiving a scholarship was Sienna Palos of William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. Her GPA was a stunning 4.95 and plans to attend the University of Colorado to pursue a career in Architectural Engineering.

   There were two additional awards recognizing individuals, rather than companies, for their outstanding safety records. The first award, for Outstanding Field Professional, was given to Corey Sefcovic with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in Greeley. Secondly, the Tony Dietrich Safety Professional of the Year Award was received by John Wardlaw with Casey Industrial, Inc. in Westminster.
